I took your hand as you pulled me from my crypt,
A crypt of perpetual darkness,
Where the walls were tainted red,
And the floor was thin ice,
Where my thoughts swarmed around me,
As if my crypt was their hive.
I took you hand as we emerged on to hollow earth,
Eyes penetrating the others weakness,
As feet fell on hollowed earth grown cold,
Grass so placid under brumal weight,
As we walk along.
I took your hand as you taught me indecisively,
How you showed me the world worked,
How to immerse my self in books of ancient times,
To love art in a new view,
To hear music with a new ear,
But if I had known I would have ended here.
I took your hand as you touch was brief,
Leaving me in a state of wonderment,
Confused if you didn’t see me the way I saw you,
Your intellect,
Your eloquence,
Your vibrancy to live,
So opposite from me so it would seem.
I took your hand as I became confused,
And began to strut away,
Slip back into what I worked so hard to fight,
Counting every thing no matter how small,
Charging my self with idiocy with every thing I did,
Wondering why you deserved someone like me.
I let my hand slip from yours,
As I looked so begrudgingly in the mirror,
Pointing out every flaw that was not there,
Laughing at every thought I had,
Claiming it wasn’t worth any ones time.
I let my hand slip from yours,
Because I fell for you,
But didn’t see the same in you for me,
I let my hand hang at my side,
Because I didn’t see the real you,
Because I didn’t know the real you,
I let my hand slip from yours while we both stayed bottled up.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
